This artwork by Thomas Girtin achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in July 2016. In the Old Master and British Works on Paper Including drawings from the Oppé Collection auction, the work Warkworth Hermitage, Northumberland sold for GBP 27,500.00 (€ 32,675.95) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 15,000.00. Admittedly, works by Thomas Girtin have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Durham Cathedral And Castle in July 2010 with an auction result of GBP 265,250.00 (€ 318,933.24).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Thomas Girtin erzielte im Juli 2016 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Master and British Works on Paper Including drawings from the Oppé Collection wurde die Arbeit Warkworth Hermitage, Northumberland für GBP 27.500,00 (€ 32.675,95) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 15.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Thomas Girtin auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Durham Cathedral And Castle im Juli 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 265.250,00 (€ 318.933,24).
