In December 2009 Christies in New York held the auction Photographs, which included the work Close, No. 28 Saltmarket, Glasgow, 1868 by Thomas Annan. The »bidding war« ended at USD 3,750.00 (€ 2,616.52), 25% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Thomas Annan have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Old Closes And Streets of Glasgow, 1868-77 in May 2005 with an auction result of GBP 8,400.00 (€ 12,401.04).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 25 % übertroffen
Im Dezember 2009 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit Close, No. 28 Saltmarket, Glasgow, 1868 von Thomas Annan zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 3.750,00 (€ 2.616,52) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Thomas Annan auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Old Closes And Streets of Glasgow, 1868-77 im Mai 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 8.400,00 (€ 12.401,04).
