Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Close, No. 139 Saltmarket, Glasgow by Thomas Annan was auctioned at Christies in New York in October 2001, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,800.00 – 2,200.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,762.50 (€ 1,959.86). Admittedly, works by Thomas Annan have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Old Closes And Streets of Glasgow, 1868-77 in May 2005 with an auction result of GBP 8,400.00 (€ 12,401.04).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Close, No. 139 Saltmarket, Glasgow von Thomas Annan im Oktober 2001 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.800,00 – 2.200,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.762,50 (€ 1.959,86) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Thomas Annan auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Old Closes And Streets of Glasgow, 1868-77 im Mai 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 8.400,00 (€ 12.401,04).
