In March this year Bonhams held the auction Modern British and Irish Art, which included the work Red Poppies by Theodore Major. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 10,837.50 (€ 12,329.75), 35% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Theodore Major - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Industrial Landscape, which sold at auction in March 2008 for GBP 34,100.00 (€ 42,838.06).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 35 % übertroffen
Im März diesen Jahres führte Bonhams die Auktion Modern British and Irish Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Red Poppies von Theodore Major zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 10.837,50 (€ 12.329,75) und damit 35% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Theodore Major mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Industrial Landscape beobachtet, die im März 2008 für GBP 34.100,00 (€ 42.838,06) versteigert wurde.
