Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2019 Christies in Hong Kong held the auction 20th Century & Contemporary Art (Afternoon Session), which included this untitled work by Teng-Hiok Chiu. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of HKD 70,000.00 – 120,000.00, the actual price achieved of HKD 75,000.00 (€ 8,583.73) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Teng-Hiok Chiu have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work without title in November 2019 with an auction result of HKD 350,000.00 (€ 40,593.52).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2019 führte Christies in Hong Kong die Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art (Afternoon Session) durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Teng-Hiok Chiu zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 70.000,00 – 120.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von HKD 75.000,00 (€ 8.583,73) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Teng-Hiok Chiu auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit ohne Titel im November 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 350.000,00 (€ 40.593,52).
