Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Teng-Hiok Chiu achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Hong Kong in October 2011. In the 20th Century Chinese Art auction, the work Castle Barn, Amberly sold for HKD 200,000.00 (€ 18,469.92) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 80,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Teng-Hiok Chiu - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work without title, which sold at auction in November 2019 for HKD 350,000.00 (€ 40,593.52).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Teng-Hiok Chiu erzielte im Oktober 2011 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 20th Century Chinese Art wurde die Arbeit Castle Barn, Amberly für HKD 200.000,00 (€ 18.469,92) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 80.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Teng-Hiok Chiu mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit ohne Titel beobachtet, die im November 2019 für HKD 350.000,00 (€ 40.593,52) versteigert wurde.
