Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Sya by Yamaguchi Takeo was sold in the 20th Century & Contemporary Art & Design Day Sale auction at Phillips in Hong Kong in November 2019. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of HKD 400,000.00 – 600,000.00, the actual price achieved of HKD 437,500.00 (€ 50,741.90) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Yamaguchi Takeo achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Ho (Crawl) in May last year with an auction result of HKD 12,450,000.00 (€ 1,478,082.19).
