Auction result well in line with expectations
In August 2021 Bonhams in Sydney / Melbourne held the auction Important Australian Art, which included the work Panorama of Sydney Harbour Looking Towards Balmain from the North Shore by Sydney Long. The price achieved of AUD 17,220.00 (€ 14,593.22) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Sydney Long - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Australian the Milkmaid, which sold at auction in August 2008 for AUD 67,200.00 (€ 39,227.87).
