This artwork by Sydney Long achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Melbourne in August 2008. In the Important Australian Art auction, the work Australian moonrise, Narrabeen sold for AUD 21,600.00 (€ 12,608.96) - well above the upper estimate of AUD 12,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Sydney Long - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Australian the Milkmaid, which sold at auction in August 2008 for AUD 67,200.00 (€ 39,227.87).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Sydney Long erzielte im August 2008 bei Sothebys in Melbourne einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Important Australian Art wurde die Arbeit Australian moonrise, Narrabeen für AUD 21.600,00 (€ 12.608,96) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von AUD 12.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Sydney Long mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Australian the Milkmaid beobachtet, die im August 2008 für AUD 67.200,00 (€ 39.227,87) versteigert wurde.
