This artwork by Sydney Long achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in September 2013. In the Australian Art auction, the work Flamingoes sold for GBP 17,500.00 (€ 20,918.54) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 10,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Sydney Long; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Australian the Milkmaid sold at auction in August 2008 with the realized price of AUD 67,200.00 (€ 39,227.87).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Sydney Long erzielte im September 2013 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Australian Art wurde die Arbeit Flamingoes für GBP 17.500,00 (€ 20.918,54) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 10.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Sydney Long; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Australian the Milkmaid im August 2008 mit dem Hammerpreis von AUD 67.200,00 (€ 39.227,87).
