Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Unknown by Steve Wolfe was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in February 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 7,000.00 – 10,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 5,737.50 (€ 4,744.48). Admittedly, works by Steve Wolfe have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Ludwig Wittgenstein, The Blue And Brown Books (Preliminary Studies For The 'Philosophical Investigations') in November 2004 with an auction result of USD 52,580.00 (€ 39,656.08).
