In March 2009 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Paintings, which included the work Study For Costume Sunday by Stephen Scott Young. The »bidding war« ended at USD 46,875.00 (€ 35,348.01), 34% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Stephen Scott Young have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Creole Girl (Red Bows) in May 2007 with an auction result of USD 348,000.00 (€ 258,678.36).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 34 % übertroffen
Im März 2009 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Study For Costume Sunday von Stephen Scott Young zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 46.875,00 (€ 35.348,01) und damit 34% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Stephen Scott Young auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Creole Girl (Red Bows) im Mai 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 348.000,00 (€ 258.678,36).
