This artwork by Spencer Lewis achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in New York in September 2021. In the New Now auction, the work Black Figure (The First Hedda Painting) sold for USD 32,760.00 (€ 28,297.49) - well above the upper estimate of USD 18,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Spencer Lewis - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work without title, which sold at auction in May this year for USD 113,400.00 (€ 106,438.90).

Für andere Arbeiten von Spencer Lewis mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit ohne Titel beobachtet, die im Mai diesen Jahres für USD 113.400,00 (€ 106.438,90) versteigert wurde.
