This artwork by Sol LeWitt achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in October 2014. In the Prints and Multiples auction, the work Bands of Lines in Four Directions (Vertical) sold for USD 4,375.00 (€ 3,491.62) - well above the upper estimate of USD 2,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Sol LeWitt achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Wavy Brushstrokes in July 2015 with an auction result of GBP 449,000.00 (€ 636,531.19).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 75 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Sol LeWitt erzielte im Oktober 2014 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Prints and Multiples wurde die Arbeit Bands of Lines in Four Directions (Vertical) für USD 4.375,00 (€ 3.491,62) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 2.500,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Sol LeWitt erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Wavy Brushstrokes im Juli 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 449.000,00 (€ 636.531,19).
