Auction result misses estimated price range
In September 2020 a collector was able to acquire the work Portrait Of Master John S. Drum, Jr. by William Orpen for GBP 23,940.00 (€ 26,397.74). This price was achieved in the auction Irish Art, including Property from the Collection of Sir MichaelSmurfit at Sothebys in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Orpen achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of Lady Idina Wallace in November 2013 with an auction result of GBP 962,500.00 (€ 1,158,239.93).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im September 2020 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Portrait Of Master John S. Drum, Jr. von William Orpen für GBP 23.940,00 (€ 26.397,74) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Irish Art, including Property from the Collection of Sir MichaelSmurfit bei Sothebys in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 30.000,00 – 50.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Orpen erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait Of Lady Idina Wallace im November 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 962.500,00 (€ 1.158.239,93).
