This artwork by William Orpen achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in July 2021. In the The B.J. Eastwood Collection: Important Sporting and Irish Pictures auction, the work Portrait of Lady Evelyn Herbert sold for GBP 312,500.00 (€ 366,471.05) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 120,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Orpen - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait Of Lady Idina Wallace, which sold at auction in November 2013 for GBP 962,500.00 (€ 1,158,239.93).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von William Orpen erzielte im Juli 2021 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion The B.J. Eastwood Collection: Important Sporting and Irish Pictures wurde die Arbeit Portrait of Lady Evelyn Herbert für GBP 312.500,00 (€ 366.471,05) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 120.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von William Orpen mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portrait Of Lady Idina Wallace beobachtet, die im November 2013 für GBP 962.500,00 (€ 1.158.239,93) versteigert wurde.
