Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of Sir Edward Gambier (1794-1879), half-length, in a black coat, buff waistcoat and white stock by William Beechey was auctioned at Christies in London in September 2013. The price achieved of GBP 4,375.00 (€ 5,229.64) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Beechey achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Dashwood Children in January 2014 with an auction result of USD 821,000.00 (€ 608,148.15).
