This artwork by William Beechey achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in July 2011. In the Lyons Demesne Works of Art from The Collection ofThe Late Dr. Tony Ryan auction, the work Double portrait of Misses Emily and Marie Ashworth, full-length, playing with a lamb in a landscape, a waterfall beyond sold for GBP 55,250.00 (€ 63,407.64) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 30,000.00. Admittedly, works by William Beechey have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Dashwood Children in January 2014 with an auction result of USD 821,000.00 (€ 608,148.15).
