Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2020 Sothebys in London held the auction Rembrandt to Richter, which included the work Cottage Garden, Leonard Stanley by Stanley Spencer. The price achieved of GBP 375,000.00 (€ 418,283.93) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 300,000.00 – 500,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Stanley Spencer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Christ Preaching At Cookham Regatta: Conversation Between Punts in November 2013 with an auction result of GBP 6,018,500.00 (€ 7,242,459.25).
