In May last year Christies in London held the auction The Collection of Sir Nicholas Goodison - British Art: Innovation and Craftsmanship, which included the work Fernlea, Cookham by Stanley Spencer. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 60,480.00 (€ 71,148.96), 73% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Stanley Spencer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Christ Preaching At Cookham Regatta: Conversation Between Punts in November 2013 with an auction result of GBP 6,018,500.00 (€ 7,242,459.25).

Im Mai letzten Jahres führte Christies in London die Auktion The Collection of Sir Nicholas Goodison - British Art: Innovation and Craftsmanship durch, in der auch die Arbeit Fernlea, Cookham von Stanley Spencer zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 60.480,00 (€ 71.148,96) und damit 73% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Stanley Spencer erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Christ Preaching At Cookham Regatta: Conversation Between Punts im November 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 6.018.500,00 (€ 7.242.459,25).
