Auction result well in line with expectations
The work G & I. Oranges & Lemons by Stanley Spencer was sold in the Modern British Day Auction auction at Sothebys in London in June last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 10,710.00 (€ 12,441.97) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Stanley Spencer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Christ Preaching At Cookham Regatta: Conversation Between Punts in November 2013 with an auction result of GBP 6,018,500.00 (€ 7,242,459.25).
