The work Julius Caesar by Peter Paul Rubens was sold in the Important Old Master Paintings and European Works of Art auction at Sothebys in New York in January 2007. The »bidding war« ended at USD 656,000.00 (€ 504,693.03), 64% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Peter Paul Rubens achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Lot and his Daughters in July 2016 with an auction result of GBP 44,882,500.00 (€ 53,330,119.54).

Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 656.000,00 (€ 504.693,03) und damit 64% über dem oberen Schätzpreis.
