Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Venus supplicating Jupiter by Peter Paul Rubens was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2016. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,200,000.00 – 1,800,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,314,500.00 (€ 1,561,910.37) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Peter Paul Rubens achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Lot and his Daughters in July 2016 with an auction result of GBP 44,882,500.00 (€ 53,330,119.54).
