Upper estimate price exceeded by 88 %.
This artwork by Peter Paul Rubens achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in January 2019. In the Old Master Prints auction, the work Saint Catherine sold for USD 9,375.00 (€ 8,184.91) - well above the upper estimate of USD 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Peter Paul Rubens achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Lot and his Daughters in July 2016 with an auction result of GBP 44,882,500.00 (€ 53,330,119.54).
