Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Peter Paul Rubens could be acquired at Christies in London in July 2020 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Classic Art Evening Sale: Antiquity to 20th Century auction, the work Portrait of a young woman, half-length, holding a chain changed hands for GBP 3,965,250.00 (€ 4,422,934.28) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 4,000,000.00 – 6,000,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Peter Paul Rubens achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Lot and his Daughters in July 2016 with an auction result of GBP 44,882,500.00 (€ 53,330,119.54).
