Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Two Cats Playing by Matthew Smith was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2015. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,500.00 (€ 4,752.83) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Matthew Smith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Connie Martin in January 2020 with an auction result of GBP 212,500.00 (€ 252,766.38).
