This artwork by Matthew Smith achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in November 2019. In the Modern | British Art auction, the work Portrait of a Lady sold for GBP 15,000.00 (€ 17,613.67) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 8,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Matthew Smith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Connie Martin in January 2020 with an auction result of GBP 212,500.00 (€ 252,766.38).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 88 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Matthew Smith erzielte im November 2019 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern | British Art wurde die Arbeit Portrait of a Lady für GBP 15.000,00 (€ 17.613,67) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 8.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Matthew Smith erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Connie Martin im Januar 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 212.500,00 (€ 252.766,38).
