In November 2018 Christies in London held the auction Annabel's, which included the work Head of a Girl by Matthew Smith. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 15,000.00 (€ 16,919.54), 50% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Matthew Smith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Connie Martin in January 2020 with an auction result of GBP 212,500.00 (€ 252,766.38).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 50 % übertroffen
Im November 2018 führte Christies in London die Auktion Annabel's durch, in der auch die Arbeit Head of a Girl von Matthew Smith zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 15.000,00 (€ 16.919,54) und damit 50% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Matthew Smith erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Connie Martin im Januar 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 212.500,00 (€ 252.766,38).
