In June 2019 Christies in London held the auction Modern British Art Day Sale, which included the work Landscape by Matthew Smith. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 55,000.00 (€ 61,828.16), 57% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Matthew Smith have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Connie Martin in January 2020 with an auction result of GBP 212,500.00 (€ 252,766.38).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 57 % übertroffen
Im Juni 2019 führte Christies in London die Auktion Modern British Art Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Landscape von Matthew Smith zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 55.000,00 (€ 61.828,16) und damit 57% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Matthew Smith auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Connie Martin im Januar 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 212.500,00 (€ 252.766,38).
