Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Approaching Storm by Matthew Smith was sold in the Modern & Post-War British Art auction at Sothebys in London in November 2019. The price achieved of GBP 5,250.00 (€ 6,164.78) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Matthew Smith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Connie Martin in January 2020 with an auction result of GBP 212,500.00 (€ 252,766.38).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Approaching Storm von Matthew Smith wurde im November 2019 in der Auktion Modern & Post-War British Art bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 5.250,00 (€ 6.164,78) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Matthew Smith erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Connie Martin im Januar 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 212.500,00 (€ 252.766,38).
