In November 2018 Christies in London held the auction Annabel's, which included the work The Bright Scarf by Matthew Smith. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 42,500.00 (€ 47,938.71), 70% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Matthew Smith have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Connie Martin in January 2020 with an auction result of GBP 212,500.00 (€ 252,766.38).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 70 % übertroffen
Im November 2018 führte Christies in London die Auktion Annabel's durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Bright Scarf von Matthew Smith zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 42.500,00 (€ 47.938,71) und damit 70% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Matthew Smith auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Connie Martin im Januar 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 212.500,00 (€ 252.766,38).
