Sold at the upper estimate price
In June 2017 Christies in London held the auction Modern British & Irish Art Day Sale, which included the work Red Roses by Matthew Smith. The auction ended at the price of GBP 25,000.00 (€ 28,470.34), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of GBP 15,000.00 – 25,000.00. Admittedly, works by Matthew Smith have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Connie Martin in January 2020 with an auction result of GBP 212,500.00 (€ 252,766.38).
Zuschlag beim oberen Schätzpreis
Im Juni 2017 führte Christies in London die Auktion Modern British & Irish Art Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Red Roses von Matthew Smith zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 25.000,00 (€ 28.470,34) entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 15.000,00 – 25.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Matthew Smith auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Connie Martin im Januar 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 212.500,00 (€ 252.766,38).
