Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2017 Christies in London held the auction Modern British & Irish Art Day Sale, which included the work Gladioli in a Vase by Matthew Smith. It changed hands for a price of GBP 22,500.00 (€ 25,540.85) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 15,000.00 – 25,000.00. Admittedly, works by Matthew Smith have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Connie Martin in January 2020 with an auction result of GBP 212,500.00 (€ 252,766.38).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2017 führte Christies in London die Auktion Modern British & Irish Art Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Gladioli in a Vase von Matthew Smith zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 22.500,00 (€ 25.540,85) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 15.000,00 – 25.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Matthew Smith auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Connie Martin im Januar 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 212.500,00 (€ 252.766,38).
