Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2016 Christies in London held the auction Modern British & Irish Art Evening Sale, which included the work Fruit in a Bowl, Striped Background (II) by Matthew Smith. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 100,000.00 – 15,000,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 158,500.00 (€ 190,251.72) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Other works by Matthew Smith have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in January 2020 the work Connie Martin was auctioned for GBP 212,500.00 (€ 252,766.38).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juni 2016 führte Christies in London die Auktion Modern British & Irish Art Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Fruit in a Bowl, Striped Background (II) von Matthew Smith zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 100.000,00 – 15.000.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 158.500,00 (€ 190.251,72) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Andere Arbeiten von Matthew Smith konnten bereits höhere Auktionspreise erzielen, so wurde im Januar 2020 die Arbeit Connie Martin für GBP 212.500,00 (€ 252.766,38) versteigert.
