The result of GBP 30,000.00 (€ 42,299.62) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Admittedly, works by Matthew Smith have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Connie Martin in January 2020 with an auction result of GBP 212,500.00 (€ 252,766.38).

Die Arbeit Flowers in a jug, red background von Matthew Smith kam im Juni 2015 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 30.000,00 (€ 42.299,62) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 30.000,00 – 50.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Matthew Smith auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Connie Martin im Januar 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 212.500,00 (€ 252.766,38).
