Auction result misses estimated price range
In June 2020 a collector was able to acquire the work Portrait Of Richard Crofts Of West Harling, Norfolk by Joshua Reynolds for USD 32,500.00 (€ 28,937.76). This price was achieved in the auction The Dealer's Eye | New York at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joshua Reynolds achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Lady Frances Marsham, later Countess of Romney (1755-1795), full-length, in a yellow dress and pink shawl, in a park landscape in July 2014 with an auction result of GBP 4,786,500.00 (€ 6,037,281.44).
