Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait Of Lady Dashwood (1763-1796), Seated, Half-Length, And Her Son, Henry George Mayne (1782-1803) by Joshua Reynolds was sold in the Old Masters Part II auction at Christies in New York in April 2021. It changed hands for a price of USD 47,500.00 (€ 39,484.62) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joshua Reynolds achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Lady Frances Marsham, later Countess of Romney (1755-1795), full-length, in a yellow dress and pink shawl, in a park landscape in July 2014 with an auction result of GBP 4,786,500.00 (€ 6,037,281.44).
