Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait Of Mary, Countess Of Courtown (D. 1810), Half-Length, Wearing A Pink Dress, Black Lace Shawl, And Holding A Spray Of Carnations by Joshua Reynolds was sold in the Old Master Day Sale including Old Master Paintings, Drawings and British Works on Paper auction at Sothebys in London in July 2020. The price achieved of GBP 32,500.00 (€ 36,251.27) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 26,000.00 – 35,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joshua Reynolds achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Lady Frances Marsham, later Countess of Romney (1755-1795), full-length, in a yellow dress and pink shawl, in a park landscape in July 2014 with an auction result of GBP 4,786,500.00 (€ 6,037,281.44).

Die Arbeit Portrait Of Mary, Countess Of Courtown (D. 1810), Half-Length, Wearing A Pink Dress, Black Lace Shawl, And Holding A Spray Of Carnations von Joshua Reynolds wurde im Juli 2020 in der Auktion Old Master Day Sale including Old Master Paintings, Drawings and British Works on Paper bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 32.500,00 (€ 36.251,27) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 26.000,00 – 35.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Joshua Reynolds erzielen.
