Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Portrait of Amelia Hume, later Lady Farnborough (1772-1837), half-length, in a white and black dress with a wide-brimmed hat by Joshua Reynolds was sold in the Old Masters Part II: Paintings, Sculpture, Drawings and Watercolours auction at Christies in London in December this year. It achieved a price of GBP 40,320.00 (€ 46,447.09), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 15%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joshua Reynolds achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Lady Frances Marsham, later Countess of Romney (1755-1795), full-length, in a yellow dress and pink shawl, in a park landscape in July 2014 with an auction result of GBP 4,786,500.00 (€ 6,037,281.44).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Portrait of Amelia Hume, later Lady Farnborough (1772-1837), half-length, in a white and black dress with a wide-brimmed hat von Joshua Reynolds wurde im Dezember diesen Jahres in der Auktion Old Masters Part II: Paintings, Sculpture, Drawings and Watercolours bei Christies in London versteigert.
