The work Portrait of General James Inglis Hamilton (before 1742-1803), half-length, in a red jacket, holding a rifle by Joshua Reynolds was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2019. It achieved a price of GBP 35,000.00 (€ 38,427.67), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 46%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joshua Reynolds achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Lady Frances Marsham, later Countess of Romney (1755-1795), full-length, in a yellow dress and pink shawl, in a park landscape in July 2014 with an auction result of GBP 4,786,500.00 (€ 6,037,281.44).
