In July 2019 Christies in London held the auction Old Masters Day Sale, which included the work Portrait John Manners, Marques of Granby (1721-1770), small full-length, beside a horse by Joshua Reynolds. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 68,750.00 (€ 75,482.93), 38% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joshua Reynolds achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Lady Frances Marsham, later Countess of Romney (1755-1795), full-length, in a yellow dress and pink shawl, in a park landscape in July 2014 with an auction result of GBP 4,786,500.00 (€ 6,037,281.44).
