Auction result misses estimated price range
In December 2019 a collector was able to acquire the work Infant Academy: The Mob Cap by Joshua Reynolds for GBP 56,250.00 (€ 66,480.92). This price was achieved in the auction Old Master Paintings and Sculpture at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 60,000.00 – 80,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joshua Reynolds achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Lady Frances Marsham, later Countess of Romney (1755-1795), full-length, in a yellow dress and pink shawl, in a park landscape in July 2014 with an auction result of GBP 4,786,500.00 (€ 6,037,281.44).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Dezember 2019 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Infant Academy: The Mob Cap von Joshua Reynolds für GBP 56.250,00 (€ 66.480,92) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Old Master Paintings and Sculpture bei Christies in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 60.000,00 – 80.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Joshua Reynolds erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of Lady Frances Marsham, later Countess of Romney (1755-1795), full-length, in a yellow dress and pink shawl, in a park landscape im Juli 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 4.786.500,00 (€ 6.037.281,44).
