This artwork by Frank Bowling achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in London in June 2021. In the Modern British and Irish Art auction, the work Potaroway sold for GBP 237,750.00 (€ 277,040.56) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 120,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Frank Bowling - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Beggar No. 3, which sold at auction in June 2019 for GBP 695,250.00 (€ 781,564.11).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 98 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Frank Bowling erzielte im Juni 2021 bei Bonhams in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern British and Irish Art wurde die Arbeit Potaroway für GBP 237.750,00 (€ 277.040,56) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 120.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Frank Bowling mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Beggar No. 3 beobachtet, die im Juni 2019 für GBP 695.250,00 (€ 781.564,11) versteigert wurde.
