Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2017 Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy, which included the work Pomegranate by Shen Zhou. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of HKD 1,000,000.00 – 1,500,000.00, the actual price achieved of HKD 1,125,000.00 (€ 121,123.30) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Shen Zhou achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Calligraphy And Landscape Of 'Zhang Gong' Karst Cave in November 2016 with an auction result of HKD 23,150,000.00 (€ 2,820,982.23).
