Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Flowers, Birds, and Insects, 1957 by Shen Zhongqiang was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in June this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,280.00 (€ 1,172.16). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Shen Zhongqiang - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Autumn Chrysanthemums, which sold at auction in April 2019 for HKD 37,500.00 (€ 4,268.59).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Flowers, Birds, and Insects, 1957 von Shen Zhongqiang im Juni diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in Los Angeles versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.280,00 (€ 1.172,16) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Shen Zhongqiang mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Autumn Chrysanthemums beobachtet, die im April 2019 für HKD 37.500,00 (€ 4.268,59) versteigert wurde.
