The work Landscapes in Ancient Styles by Shen Shichong was worth HKD 836,000.00 (€ 82,893.16) to a buyer in November 2012. This price was achieved in the auction Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy at Christies in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 200,000.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Shen Shichong - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Sailing through the Verdant Coast, which sold at auction in November 2010 for HKD 3,260,000.00 (€ 322,098.80).
