Artwork auctioned at five times the upper estimate price
The work Autumn Scene by Shen Shichong was worth HKD 2,000,000.00 (€ 231,163.00) to a buyer in May 2016. This price was achieved in the auction Fine Classical Chinese Paintings at Sothebys in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 380,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Shen Shichong; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Sailing through the Verdant Coast sold at auction in November 2010 with the realized price of HKD 3,260,000.00 (€ 322,098.80).
