Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Glow girl by Serge Attukwei Clottey was auctioned at Phillips in London in March last year, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - GBP 40,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at GBP 151,200.00 (€ 179,264.62). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Serge Attukwei Clottey - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Fashion icons, which sold at auction in October 2021 for GBP 340,200.00 (€ 403,045.12).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Glow girl von Serge Attukwei Clottey im März letzten Jahres bei Phillips in London versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – GBP 40.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit GBP 151.200,00 (€ 179.264,62) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Für andere Arbeiten von Serge Attukwei Clottey mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Fashion icons beobachtet, die im Oktober 2021 für GBP 340.200,00 (€ 403.045,12) versteigert wurde.
