Auction result misses estimated price range
In March 2006 a collector was able to acquire the work Ainu Patterns (Ainu Moyo), 1982 by Junichiro Sekino for USD 1,920.00 (€ 1,581.68). This price was achieved in the auction Japanese Art Including Property of The Metropolitan Museum of Art at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Junichiro Sekino - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Yoshida Bungoro, which sold at auction in March 2001 for USD 3,525.00 (€ 4,008.41).
