Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Showa era (1926-1989), dated 1978 and 1979 by Junichiro Sekino was sold in the Patient Detail, Perfect DesignJapanese Art across the Centuries auction at Bonhams in London in November last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,020.00 (€ 1,181.95) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Junichiro Sekino - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Yoshida Bungoro, which sold at auction in March 2001 for USD 3,525.00 (€ 4,008.41).
